This picture shows the muscles of facial expression. These muscles are enervated by the facial nerve. Paralysis of the facial nerve (Bell’s palsy) will result in the inability to move these muscles on one side of the face. The left side of the face shows the underlying muscles used for chewing (mastication). The masseter muscle is indicated by the Letter A.
