This drawing shows the bones which comprise the hand and wrist. Rheumatord arthritis often affects the wrist joints the metecarpophalangeel joints (between A and B), and the proximal interphalangeal joints (between B and C) Osteoarthritis or degenerative arthritis, often causes enlargement and distortion of the distal interphalengeal joints (between C and D).
