EXTENSOR TENDONS OF THE DIGIT

This picture demonstrates the anatomy of the digit. The extensor tendons (allow you to extend your finger straight) can be injured due to a laceration over the top of the finger or a blunt force to the digit causing tendon rupture. There are three finger bones ; proximal , middle and distal phalanges.
