Thorax
Thorax, that part of the skeleton in mammals that is located between the neck and the abdomen and is separated from the latter by a diaphragm. The chest constitutes the human thorax. In insects and other arthropods, the thorax consists of hard plates that are joined to the head and abdomen by ligaments that allow articulation. The legs grow from the thorax.
